Factors that promote remineralization
|
Professor Eric Reynolds, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, developed CPP-ACP after 15 years extensive research. Focusing on research showing people who had a regular intake of dairy products had less dental caries, Prof. Reynolds investigated the caries preventive effects of dairy products. CPP-ACP is a complex of casein phosphopeptides (CPP) and amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and is a product of the enzymatic digestion of milk protein. CPP can transfer ACP to the subsurface enamel in stable form. The CPP-ACP maintains the calcium phosphate in super-saturated concentration without precipitation. Many published studies support the fact that CPP-ACP is localized on the tooth surface and as a result reduces demineralization and promotes remineralization.
