Practical use of an antibacterial mouth wash Use rinsing with an anti bacterial mouthwash
Regulate dietary habits Meals and snacks are eaten at fixed times Many bacteria that reside in our mouths produce acid from sugars taken in directly as part of our diet or when carbohydrates are broken down. This acid can then demineralize (dissolve) the tooth causing erosion or dental caries. Care should be taken to limit snacks and to have them at a fixed time. Frequency of eating provides bacteria in the mouth with a constant supply of food from which acid is produced. Following snacking or meals, appropriate preventive measures such as tooth brushing or chewing sugar free chewing gum should be employed. |
